It’s A Wrap-June

I know, I know…we’re already a week into July. I’m just a little behind right now because let’s face it, life happens. My son was really sick so we spent more time at doctors’ offices than I spent on my business. Then the internet was out for 5 days. But the main point is, I’m back now! First things first, I’d like to introduce you to www.LuLusYarnArt.com! TaDa! My site is now a .com! In case you couldn’t tell, I am very excited by this step.

Accomplishments

Now, on to recapping my June. Despite the rocky end of my month, I was able to complete just about everything that I had on my list for June as outlined in It’s A Wrap-May. I did miss one blog post from my goal, and the website upgrade didn’t happen before July. However, I’m still glad that I accomplished as much as I did. After meeting with the local representatives of the Small Business Administration, it redirected my goals for July. I will say this: if you are in the United States and are trying to run, or are thinking about starting a small business, I highly recommend meeting with the SBA. It was free and the amount and quality of information I received was immensely valuable.

As far as my crochet goals for June, I did get both owl blankets and an American Girl dress completed.

Here are the links for the patterns, the Owl is a paid pattern and the AGD dress is free.

July Goals

My business goals for July are to apply for an EIN, apply for a retail certificate, find insurance coverage for doing craft shows, get checks for my business account, and to revamp my online store. My blogging goal continues to be to post once a week, hopefully it will happen this month! Finally my crochet goals are to continue working on a graphghan for my son, and to find at least two small, quick projects geared toward moms of young children that I could add to my store. Do you have any small projects that you like to do? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Since I saw this post a while ago I’ve been wracking my brain trying to think of small projects that aren’t the typical thing, you know, like booties. Don’t get me wrong, I love booties, and making booties for new moms to put on their babies’ cute little feet, but everybody’s got a booty and a booties pattern. It’s been so long since young children have passed through my life and family that I couldn’t remember what I was up to. And THEN I REMEMBERED that, when everybody in my family and my friends were having babies and throwing little toddler birthday parties, amigurumis for little hands to hold and play with were my favorite to make. Make a mini version of a toddler’s favorite animal, discover the toddler’s favorite toy. I’d go in that direction totally. Some little crochet toys. My niece who is now in her 20s still has her baby zebra I made for her on her 3rd birthday.
