WIP Wednesday

I have a few projects that I am working on this week. The first one is a graphghan for my son. He is obsessed with a certain cartoon that features puppies with special abilities. The ironic thing is we only have broadcast television, so he only gets to watch the show when we visit our family in Ohio. You may have noticed that I have not said the title, I also probably won’t share the finished project. I know a lot of companies allow what they call “fan art,” but to be honest I really don’t want to deal with trademark/copyright infringement so I generally avoid doing anything with registered materials; something for my son being an exception.

Yes, there are currently bobbins on this section. I think I will have a few ends to weave in on this one.

In trying to find a couple of small projects to make for sale, I stumbled across a couple of patterns that I wanted to try. The first one is the Tooth Fairy Pillow by Heather Corinne at My Purpose In Life Is Joy. I really like the pattern, but it was taking longer to make than what I was hoping for. So I am adapting it into a flat piece instead of a pillow and, hopefully, that will work for selling in my shop.

I am thinking about embroidering a face on the blank side, or maybe names instead. What do you think?

The other pattern I am trying is Tiny Striped Turtles posted by KristieMN atΒ Crochetville. When I found this pattern on Pinterest, the picture showed the turtle’s shell being spiraled. I’m not sure where the picture came from though, because the pattern is just stripes. But, since I loved the way the spiral looked along with the added benefit of less wasted yarn due to tying off each row, I started out trying to do the spiral. I think this is going to get frogged and tried as stripes instead. The other option is to try the shell as two separate pieces, which would make stuffing it easier too.

I already frogged half of the shell to try to even it back out, I’ll have to see where this one goes.

What projects are you working on this week?

  1. You could do a face and then for an extra fee customize it with a name maybe? I’m the same way about copyrighted characters. I’ve made lots of pokey inspired things but don’t do any posts about them or upload the pictures. Except for my gravatar image which is NOT officially a Jigglypuff – in case the corporate pokey legal team is reading this post. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
